Stafford Family Fundraising Through Creativity

For Children's Grief Awareness Week UK (Nov 2018) a family in Stafford have created the charitable organisation ‘Posted Because Of Love’.

Using creativity, art and the written word in the form of postcards and T-shirts, the project aims to bring people together and to fundraise for the Donna Louise Trust in memory of their beloved and beautiful son Ed and the appreciation for the hospice’s invaluable support.

Eddie Ashcroft, 25th March 2001 - 16th June 2018

Ed sadly passed away earlier this year at the young age of 17 from a life-limiting illness which has meant a time of great sadness and painful conversations for Ed’s family. In particular, for Ed’s brother and sisters, 'Posted Because Of Love' was a way to help them process their feelings and emotions in a constructive and positive way.

In collaboration with local children’s schools and their local children’s hospice, their hope is that they can help others by providing a way for children and also adults to start their own conversations when they find it difficult to talk or say how they feel out loud. It is with this in mind that Ed’s family have designed a range of postcards and T-Shirts with beautiful, bright, colourful typography, all with the message ‘Because Of Love’.

Taking the time to write and post a message to someone may seem like a simple gesture but receiving a thoughtful, handwritten message in these modern times when we are totally submerged in social media and texting can be rare and impactful and can be the invisible lift that someone needs at a difficult time.

In the last 26 days of Ed’s life at the hospice his family found that they were surrounded by the insightful and gentle awareness of the Donna Louise staff and were able to be ever-present for Ed, which was time that was invaluable.

It is their gratitude for all of the hard work, comfort and the precious difference that the hospice brings to families lives when they have a child or heartbreakingly lose a child with life-limiting conditions that has motivated them to fundraise for this critical and indispensable cause in remembrance of Ed.
